This original Scanflex modular wall rack from the 1950s and 60s is a beautiful example of Dutch design with a clear Scandinavian influence. The design, reminiscent of the work of William Watting, combines functionality with an elegant, airy aesthetic.
The furniture is crafted from a blond solid wood frame, presumably beech, combined with darker wooden shelves. This mix of materials is characteristic of the quality design of that period. The wall rack consists of adjustable shelves and an integrated base unit that can also serve as a console table. The dimensions are 210 cm high and 150 cm wide, with a depth of 48 cm for the base unit and 22 cm for the shelves. The original "Scanflex Made in Holland" label is still present.
The wall rack is in good vintage condition, commensurate with its age and use. The wood has developed a warm patina that enhances the character of this mid-century piece.
This versatile piece of furniture fits perfectly into a modern, Scandinavian, or eclectic interior. It offers ample space for books, art, or collectibles and forms a stylish centerpiece in a living room or study.
