Product description
An original Ariadne daybed designed by Friso Kramer for Auping in the 1960s – a beautiful example of Dutch mid-century modern design. The design combines a slender dark metal frame with warm teak head and foot ends, creating the elegant contrast between industrial construction and natural materials that is so characteristic of Kramer’s work. With its low, architectural silhouette and beautifully shaped legs, the Ariadne is remarkably timeless. Originally designed as a bed, today it works equally well as a daybed, chaise longue or minimalist sofa – perfect for a living room, guest room, studio or home office. The daybed has been fitted with a new mattress, newly upholstered in black velvet. The deep black upholstery gives the original teak and metal construction a sophisticated, contemporary look while preserving the character of the 1960s design. A functional and increasingly sought-after Dutch design classic by one of the most important designers of post-war Dutch modernism.
