This is a set of four dining chairs by the Dutch manufacturer Van Os Culemborg, a characteristic mid-century design. The chairs are immediately recognizable by their elegant hourglass silhouette and unique 'swing' legs, an example of post-war Dutch design. The chairs are crafted with a dark lacquered wooden frame, which forms a beautiful contrast with the light-colored, textured upholstery. The seat and backrest form one flowing, organically shaped shell, accented by a black trim. This detail adds a subtle graphic element to the design. The construction testifies to the craftsmanship for which Van Os Culemborg was known. The overall condition of the set is good, retaining the original upholstery and finish. The chairs show a character consistent with their age, without compromising structural integrity or aesthetic value. They are an authentic example of Mid-Century design. This set is ideally suited for a dining room or kitchen and fits seamlessly into both vintage and modern interiors. The chairs function well as a complete set around a dining table, but can also be used as solitary accent chairs in a living or working space. The chairs were bought by my aunt in 1958. They came into my possession about 35 years ago. My aunt and I have always used them.
