Product description
The Falujungfrun (the "Maiden of Falu") is a traditional, hand-painted wooden doll originating from the Dalarna province in Sweden. The Dalarnas Museum collaborates with local artisans to release a certified, numbered annual edition of the doll. Height (with feather): 38 cm. While the iconic Dala horse is the most famous folk art from this region, the Falujungfrun is a highly prized regional equivalent. It captures the historic mining culture of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Falun. In older Swedish folklore, the doll served as a "leksak" (toy) for children and a "friargåva" (suitor's gift) given by young men to women they were courting. Height: 38 cm. Width: 11.5 cm. Depth: 9.5 cm.
