Private sellerProduct description
This is a modernist table lamp, designed by John Brown from the period 1966-1967. The object is a representative example of Mid-Century Modern design, characterized by a minimalist aesthetic and a focus on functionality. The lamp stands out for its bright color scheme and the simple, geometric design typical of the Space Age influences of that era.
The construction consists of a cylindrical, orange lacquered metal shade, mounted on a slender frame of chrome-plated steel. The shade is tiltable, allowing the light beam to be directed for use as a reading lamp or for accentuating an object. The combination of the vibrant color and the shiny metal creates a visual contrast that appears both playful and industrial. The wiring is equipped with an original switch.
This lamp is in excellent vintage condition, retaining its original finish and color intensity. The overall condition testifies to careful use over the years, and the piece is fully functional. The design is a compact and versatile lighting object that embodies the spirit of the sixties.
As accent lighting, this table lamp adds a touch of color and retro character to a desk, sideboard, or bedside table. The piece seamlessly integrates into an interior with Mid-Century, minimalist, or eclectic influences and functions both as a practical light source and a decorative design element.
