Product description

An iconic Mid-Century Modern armchair, designed by Martin Stoll for Giroflex, Switzerland, dating from the 1960s. Known as one of the most distinctive executive armchairs of that period, this model perfectly combines luxurious comfort with the sleek, sculptural lines of European modernist design. The chair features a beautifully shaped rosewood veneer shell, upholstered in striking deep red leather with characteristic button tufting. The generous proportions, padded armrests, and separate adjustable headrest ensure exceptional seating comfort, while maintaining an elegant and refined appearance. The chair stands on its original polished aluminium five-star swivel base with casters, which emphasizes its origins as an executive chair and simultaneously makes it highly suitable as a statement armchair in a modern interior. Martin Stoll's designs for Giroflex are highly regarded by collectors of twentieth-century design and are increasingly sought after for their combination of craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless aesthetics. The rich red leather upholstery contrasts beautifully with the warm rosewood shell and the polished aluminium base, creating a piece that is just as contemporary today as it was when it was first produced. An outstanding example of Swiss modernist furniture design and a true collector's item for lovers of Mid-Century Modern interiors.
