This beautifully shaped armchair was designed by Finnish designer Olli Mannermaa for Martela in the early 1950s and later also produced by Cassina and Eugen Schmidt in Germany. The chair consists of a polystyrene shell sitting on a chrome-plated round steel frame, making it very light and easy to handle. The seat shell has been reupholstered and fitted with thin foam. The new fabric cover is made by the Danish premium manufacturer Kvadrat/Sahco. It is a beautiful bouclé fabric in an elegant light gray that gives these classics a contemporary look.
The frame only shows light rust and scratches in places. The cover and upholstery are new.
