Product description
This is a set of two handmade Peruvian napkin rings from the mid-twentieth century, crafted from 925 sterling silver and originating from Peru (dating from approximately 1960). The pieces are distinguished by their detailed, high-relief decorations inspired by pre-Columbian culture.
Each ring is adorned with three panels depicting traditional mythological and cultural scenes, including the Tumi protector god, a winged messenger, an Andean shepherd, and a llama. The edges are finished with a geometric stepped pattern, known as the Chakana. The inside is marked with '925' and 'PERU' and they have a combined weight of 65 grams.
The overall condition of the set is very good, consistent with its age. The silver has developed a patina that accentuates the contrast in the relief work, bringing out the finely crafted details. The construction is solid and the shape has been well preserved.
These napkin rings are a distinctive addition to a refined table setting. They fit well into an interior with an interest in world art and offer a touch of Latin American history and craftsmanship.
