Product description
Mid-Century Modern Crackle Glaze Ceramic Vase Duo – Fridegart Glatzle for Karlsruher Majolika & Ernst Loesche, Germany
Two striking examples of German studio and mid-century ceramics, united by their beautifully intricate crackle glazes and contrasting sculptural silhouettes.
The taller vase, designed by Fridegart Glatzle for Karlsruher Majolika, features an elegant elongated form in brilliant vermilion red-orange, covered with a fine network of dark crackle lines.
Its companion, a sculptural vessel by Ernst Loesche, offers a softer counterpoint: a rounded, asymmetrical form with an inclined opening, finished in delicate ivory-yellow with a contrasting network of fine reddish-purple crackle lines.
Together, they create a captivating dialogue between height and volume, symmetry and asymmetry, vivid colour and subtle restraint.
Design & Craftsmanship
The red-orange Karlsruher Majolika vase combines a generously rounded body with a slender neck and gently flared rim. Its intense colour and intricate crackle glaze emphasize the clarity of its modernist silhouette.
The Ernst Loesche vase is more experimental, with a softly rounded body and an irregular, diagonally cut opening. Its pale yellow crackle glaze and subtly contrasting green interior lend it a distinctly sculptural character.
Although created by different makers, the two vessels complement each other beautifully through their shared emphasis on glaze texture, expressive colour, and refined ceramic forms.
