A superb sculptural glass decanter from the celebrated “Ming” series designed by master glassmaker Michael Harris during his renowned period at Mdina Glass, Malta, in the 1970s.
Hand-blown and richly expressive, the piece features layered swirls of deep cobalt and vibrant turquoise blue glass flowing organically through the form. The fluid movement of colour evokes seascapes and Mediterranean light, beautifully contrasted by the thick clear glass neck and original spherical bubble stopper.
The polished pontil base is engraved with the authentic “Mdina” signature, confirming its production at the iconic Maltese glass studio founded by Harris in 1968. Today, Mdina Glass pieces from the Michael Harris era are highly sought after for their sculptural forms, luminous colours, and distinctive modernist character.
Both decorative and functional, this piece makes a striking statement on a Scandinavian sideboard, cocktail cabinet, or curated art glass shelf.
