This is an original mezzotint by the Belgian artist Roel Slabbinck, titled 'The Great Wonder'. The work, created in 1984, displays the characteristic depth and texture typical of this graphic technique.
Roel Slabbinck is a Belgian artist born in Bruges in 1939. He is a Belgian printmaker, draftsman, and designer of ex libris. He trained at the Higher Institute for Printing, Planting Society in Antwerp, and in graphic arts at the Academies in Berchem and Antwerp. He gave up his teaching job and founded the magazines Arte Grafica (1988-1991) and, in 1990, Graphic Art Promotion. His figurative drawings usually convey a message. He works as an etcher, often using the mezzotint technique. He is listed in the Lexicon of West Flemish Visual Artists vii. (Piron)
