About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This ceramic pitcher was produced by the Poët-Laval pottery in France, around 1960. The piece is distinguished by its Cavaillon melon shape, a playful and sculptural reference to the famous Provençal region.
Made of earthenware, this pitcher features a ribbed body covered with a glossy caramel-colored enamel. The neck and spout are adorned with a textured drip-effect enamel, blending turquoise and white hues that contrast with the brown base. The underside of the piece bears the manufacturer's mark "P.L FRANCE CAVAILLON", confirming its origin.
The general condition of this pitcher is good, in accordance with its age. The glaze retains its luster and vibrant colors, testifying to the craftsmanship of the pottery from Drôme Provençale. It is a collectible piece representative of mid-20th century French ceramics.
With its figurative design and distinctive color palette, this pitcher makes a characteristic addition to a vintage ceramics collection. It can serve as a water carafe, a vase for fresh flowers, or simply as a decorative object on a shelf or sideboard.
