This large format numismatic collector's item was issued under the aegis of Robert Laffont Éditeur, specifically offered in a limited edition to subscribers of the famous encyclopedia "Le Monde des Océans". The obverse reveals a magnificent high-relief profile portrait of the famous Commander Jacques-Yves Cousteau, faithfully wearing his legendary wool cap and smoking a pipe. The engraved signature "R. DUBOC" is inscribed at the base. The reverse masterfully features a panoramic sculpted view at sea of his mythical oceanographic vessel, "La Calypso", surmounted by the official titulature. A maritime work of art with a superb geometric presence, ideal as a paperweight for a cabinet of curiosities.
