Product description
Enamelled stoneware vase made by Belgian ceramist Maurice Pitot, active in Châtelineau and linked to the tradition of Bouffioulx stoneware, around the years 1950-1960. This beautiful piece features a generous ovoid shape, highlighted by two looped side handles and a wide flared neck. The decor is distinguished by superb flowing enamels in shades of brown, copper, olive green and black, creating particularly expressive effects of material and depth. The variations in colors and irregular drips attest to the artisanal character of the piece and make each side different. The contrast between the warm tones of the body and the darker enamels of the neck and handles gives it a very decorative presence. The base bears the incised signature « Pitot P », corresponding to the ceramist Maurice Pitot. Very good general vintage condition. Some small firing and glazing irregularities are visible, characteristic of an artisanal piece from this period. Please consult the detailed photographs to accurately assess its condition.
