Massive Space Age Chrome Chandelier – 1970s
Spectacular and generously sized 1970s Space Age chandelier by Massive, combining polished chrome, transparent textured glass and distinctive translucent green plastic details.
The chandelier consists of three individual lights suspended at different heights from a striking geometric chrome structure. Each pendant features a tall cylindrical chrome element with elongated ventilation openings and a broad circular chrome shade punctuated by numerous openings fitted with green translucent plastic cover caps in varying sizes.
Underneath each shade sits a substantial moulded transparent glass diffuser. When illuminated, the warm light shines through the textured clear glass as well as the green inserts, producing beautiful amber and green highlights across the highly reflective chrome surfaces.
With its impressive proportions, unusual materials and futuristic construction, this is a true statement piece and a fantastic example of the bold Space Age aesthetic of the 1970s.
