"Like a bulbous dandelion bell, scattered by the wind. And when it burns, it looks like it does." That's how designer Marcus Arvonen described his MASKROS pendant lamp, inspired by one of the most common plants in the northern hemisphere.
Most people think of the dandelion as a weed, but a closer look reveals the yellow flower's unique beauty. One of Marcus Arvonne's intentions with the lamp was that it would be as decorative as it burns. When it burns, it spreads fascinating patterns on the walls and ceiling and exciting things happen. According to Marcus, "Seeds are scattered, the room dissolves and transforms. Like when the sun shines through the trees. Simply put, it puts you in a better mood. And it's actually just as decorative and fascinating when it's out."
Apparently, MASKROS put a lot of people in a good mood. It became very popular and remained in the IKEA catalog for four years.
