The Serpente Floor Lamp was created by Elio Martinelli for his lighting label Martinelli Luce.
For nearly seventy years, Martinelli Luce has been creating lighting for both domestic and commercial use. The simple geometry of the label's innovative designs combined with their functionality has given them a lasting endurance. Italian-born Elio Martinelli studied stage design before working in his father's lighting business. He went on to form his own successful label in Lucca and many of his lights and lamps are still in production today. The label has won numerous prizes including the Compasso d'Oro and the IF Product Design Gold Awards.
Martinelli designed the Serpente Floor Lamp in 1965 and with its elegant lines, it became a classic that still looks as contemporary today as when first produced. The lamp has a robust metal frame and a moulded diffuser of white opal methacrylate that gives a warm and bright light. A swivel arm adds extra versatility. The Serpente Floor Lamp is 120cm in height and has a diameter of 55cm at its widest point.
