Product description
Beautiful vintage Italian design desk lamp Folgia. A design by Elio Martinelli for Martinelli Luce. This model dates from 1970s but still looks modern. The Foglia has not been produced for many years.
Remarkably, this specimen is in new condition. Original label is still attached.
Elio Martinelli was an influential Italian designer and entrepreneur, born in 1921 and died in 2004. He is best known as the founder of Martinelli Luce, a renowned Italian lighting company that grew into a leading name in the design world
Martinelli pioneered the use of new materials such as methacrylate (acrylic) and other plastics, which allowed him to create lighting fixtures with fluid, organic shapes that were difficult to achieve with traditional materials.
Other iconic lamps by Elio Martinelli include Cobra and Serpente.
