About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is an iconic Floor light by the Italian manufacturer Martinelli Luce, designed by Elio Martinelli. The piece is a classic example of mid-20th century Italian design, known for its organic and innovative forms. The model, probably the 'Serpente', is characterized by its curved arm and dome-shaped shade, a design that is both functional and sculptural.
The lamp is made of white lacquered metal for the structure and base, with an opal white methacrylate shade. This material provides a soft, diffuse light distribution that creates a warm atmosphere. The distinctive curved arm can rotate, allowing the direction of the light to be adjusted. This design is a milestone in lighting history and is part of the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The overall condition of the lamp is good, consistent with its age and use. The original finish has been preserved, and the piece has an authentic character. The lamp is a testament to the lasting quality and timeless design of Martinelli Luce.
This Floor light is a statement piece that fits perfectly into various interior styles, from Mid-Century Modern to contemporary and minimalist. It functions excellently as a reading lamp next to an armchair or as ambient lighting in a living room or office.
