Product description
A rare, signed painting from Martin Pötsch’s 1995 conceptual project “Kunst solange der Vorrat reicht” (Art While Supplies Last), created at the Kommunikationsfabrik Frankfurt. One of only 1,000 unique canvases executed during his legendary early-1990s performance-painting actions — a vibrant, gestural composition linking painting and performance. Excellent condition, with artist’s label and handwritten inscription verso. This expressive original belongs to Martin Pötsch’s historical series “Kunst solange der Vorrat reicht” (1992–1995) — a performative painting project realized in nine German cities, including Munich, Cologne, Leipzig, Berlin, Stuttgart, Dresden, Frankfurt a.M., and Hamburg. Each event produced a limited set of acrylic paintings on canvas, created live by the artist as part of a conceptual exploration of art, accessibility, and repetition. Only 1,000 works were made in total; each is unique and individually signed. This example was painted and signed in Frankfurt am Main on 4 and 5 March 1995, during the final stages of the project. Its gestural layers of crimson, ochre, white, and black reflect Pötsch’s dynamic investigation of rhythm and structure — a direct visual record of performance and motion. Provenance • Artist’s original label verso: “Kunst solange der Vorrat reicht – Malaktion von Martin Pötsch – 1000 Bilder – dipinto il 4 e 5 Marzo 1995 – alla Kommunikationsfabrik FFM” • Additional handwritten dedication by the artist verso Condition Canvas and frame in excellent state with minimal traces of age. Ready to hang. Context & Rarity Comparable canvases from this action are documented on the artist’s archive site (martinpotsch-malerei.de) and in video footage of the 1990s “1000 Bilder” performances. Originally sold symbolically for 10–20 DM during the live actions, these early works have become collectible markers of Pötsch’s conceptual period. His later glass and installation works now reach €1,000–€3,000+ in galleries, underlining the growing interest in his oeuvre.
