Product description
Original set of three 'Gli Scacchi' modular elements, designed by Mario Bellini for C&B Italia in 1971. Named after the Italian word for chess, Gli Scacchi was conceived as a playful collection of geometric, modular forms that could be freely arranged and used as low tables, occasional seating, or sculptural interior elements. The three pieces are made from black self-skinning polyurethane and each features a different geometric form: a rectangular block, an arch-shaped element, and a stepped element. Together they can be arranged in numerous configurations, reflecting the experimental and informal approach to Italian furniture design of the early 1970s. The pieces retain their original C&B Italia manufacturer's labels, identifying the Gli Scacchi model and Mario Bellini as the designer. In good vintage condition with age-related traces of use, including some marks, scratches, and minor imperfections to the polyurethane surface. Please refer to the photographs for further details.
