Product description
This is a floor lamp by the Berlin artist Marianne Koplin, made of ceramic and a lampshade in Japan-Batik technique. The piece is characterized by its sculptural ceramic base in Brutalist style and the artfully designed shade, which creates a warm, diffused light.
The lamp base is made of ceramic and features a structured, brown glaze. A striking detail are the applied, disc-shaped elements that give the base an organic yet powerful presence. The cylindrical lampshade shows an abstract motif realized through the “Original Japan-Batik” technique, as confirmed by a label inside. The color palette is kept in earthy brown and beige tones.
The lamp is in good condition, consistent with its age, and retains its original character. The ceramic is intact and the batik work on the shade is well preserved, which underlines the craftsmanship of the object. The original wiring and brass socket are present and functional.
With its unique aesthetic, this luminaire seamlessly fits into Mid-Century Modern, Brutalist, or Organic Modern style interiors. It functions both as a functional light source next to an armchair or sofa and as a standalone sculptural object that adds character and an artistic touch to a room.
