The sculpture "Wolf" was created by the Kiel-based sculptor Marcus Meyer. It appears as part of his series "The Last of Their Kind." The wolf here stands as a subject of current social discussions and, at the same time, cultural-historical significance. Thus, this sculpture plays an important role in reflecting on the Anthropocene and humanity's relationship with its environment. The wolf is crafted from North American black walnut. The dark, almost uniform, yet warm color of the wood underscores the mystification of the animal.
About the artist: Marcus Meyer has been active as an artist and sculptor since 1993. During this time, he has participated in numerous art exhibitions and installations (Industrialized Being - Simone Menne Gallery, Polar Bear - Kiel, parts of Gegenward - Kronshagen). His sculptural studies primarily address the themes of humanity and nature. As a visionary, he assembles a wooden blank from many individual parts, from which he then sculpts the sculpture.
