This bronze Buddha statue from Myanmar is executed in the elegant Mandalay style, retaining visible remnants of its original gilding. The figure is depicted in the Bhumisparsha mudra, the earth-touching gesture associated with the moment Siddhartha Gautama called upon the earth to witness his enlightenment, symbolising determination and inner strength. Constructed from bronze, the statue measures 37 centimetres in height and 26 centimetres in width. The piece features a darkly patinated surface beneath the worn gilding, creating a contrast between the warm gold tones and the naturally aged metal. The figure is seated upon a rounded pedestal with a closed, filled underside, consistent with traditional production methods. The statue is in good condition, displaying a characterful patina and wear to the original gilded finish that is consistent with its age.
