Product description
Special freestanding coat rack, designed by Japanese industrial designer Makio Hasuike for the Italian design label Gedy in the 1970s. A characteristic example of Italian Space Age design, combining functionality and a clear, sculptural form.
The coat rack is made of cream-colored plastic and consists of a slender vertical stand on a round base. The various horizontal arms are placed at multiple heights, giving the design a playful, almost abstract silhouette. The rounded ends and flowing transitions create a soft, minimalist look. The longer arms are individually rotatable, allowing the coat rack to be flexibly arranged. In addition to being used as a coat rack, the design is also suitable as a clothes stand or towel rail.
The combination of simple geometry, light material, and thoughtful functionality is characteristic of Italian industrial design from this period.
The coat rack is in very good vintage condition, with only minimal signs of wear consistent with its age.
Dimensions are as follows: height 155 cm, width 36 cm, depth 36 cm.
