We are pleased to present this majestic early 20th-century Italian chest. Crafted from solid walnut, its light amber brown color makes it perfect for both classic and modern interiors.
Featuring a wide, majestic lid, the thick lid has a smooth surface finished along the lower edge with a carved dentil molding. The front is divided symmetrically and features two large main panels featuring geometric inlay work with a burl wood decoration at the center that creates a distinctive visual accent. The lid opens to reveal a spacious and practical storage compartment lined with paper. The chest rests on three majestic front feet, finely carved with Baroque-style scroll and curl motifs, which lift the chest off the floor, lending it visual stability and grandeur. The antique lock and key are noteworthy.
This type of chest was originally intended primarily to hold bedding, such as blankets or sheets, and was placed at the foot of the bed.
