This reclining German Shepherd is impressive due to its size and the quality of its rendering. Measuring 40 cm long and 20 cm high, it rests on a rounded rectangular plinth with molded edges, characteristic of decorative pieces from the interwar period. The musculature is rendered with remarkable naturalistic detail, the ears erect, the mouth slightly open, the front paws extended in a dignified resting posture. The ivory enamel, with its warm and brilliant whiteness, envelops the whole with a soft light that highlights every detail of the modeling. It was the preferred color of Art Deco animal sculptors, who sought in this neutral hue to prioritize form over color. The stamp under the base bears the mark "Digoin Sarreguemines France", a manufacturer founded in 1790 whose figurative pieces from the years are highly sought after by collectors today. A piece with character, impressive and refined, which will naturally find its place on a console table, a fireplace mantel, or in an Art Deco ceramic collection. The state of preservation is very satisfactory, with brilliant and intact enamel.
