Luis Anglada Pinto was a Spanish painter born in 1873 and died in 1946.
A student of Antonio Caba at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts (Escuela de Bellas Artes de Barcelona), he is famous for his portraits of Oriental men and women, often painted after his stays in Morocco and Algeria. He was friends with other major figures in Spanish art, such as José Maria Sert and Pablo Picasso.
His Orientalist works are distinguished by their almost photographic realism and meticulous attention to detail.
Recurring subjects include Oriental women wearing headscarves, men in turbans, and African women.
Beyond Orientalism, he was also a sought-after portraitist, painting Spanish and European subjects.
His work is characterized by great precision and masterful technique.
