Lucien Callé (1909-1988)
A student of André Gagey, Lucien Callé lived near Porrentruy, where he worked as an administrative director at Peugeot in Montbéliard.
He counted among his friends prominent figures in the art world such as Messagier, Jouffroy, and Chaboudey.
Every summer, his greatest joy was to come to Erquy, his parents' homeland, and paint the Brittany he loved so much.
The port of Erquy, Dahouët, Le Guildo, Dinan, Cap Fréhel, and the Breton countryside were the painter's main sources of inspiration.
In 1933, he won a silver medal at the Salon des Artistes Français at the Grand Palais in Paris, which led to his inclusion in the Bénézit (a dictionary listing established artists).
