Ceramics by Lucie Q. Bakker is mainly known for her tableware. Wall plates of this size are less often encountered.
Lucie Quirina BAKKER (Rotterdam 1915 - Lochem 2003)
In 1938 Bakker started a pottery studio in the attic of a canal house in Amsterdam. She was one of the first ceramists with an electric kiln. In her early years she produced mainly one-offs, but the war made energy and materials scarce. As a result, there was little production. When production picked up, she shifted her focus from unica to serial production of dinnerware. In her studio, she worked with Jan de Rooden and Brigitte Pos. When she decided to stop producing dinnerware in 1967, her designs were sold to the Royal Tichelaar factory in Makkum.
