An elegant Second Empire style piece
A charming Louis XV style chest of drawers from the Napoleon III period (second half of the 19th century), veneered in rosewood and richly decorated with floral marquetry. This small three-drawer chest embodies the elegance of Second Empire occasional furniture.
Description
This beautifully crafted piece features a fully curved shape (bent over on all sides) characteristic of the Louis XV style. Each drawer is adorned with a central marquetry medallion depicting stylized floral motifs in scrolls, framed by foliage and flowering branches. The curved sides are also decorated with marquetry panels.

Three superimposed drawers with identical marquetry decoration
Fully curved (domed) front and sides
Gray veined marble top with rounded edges
Cabriole legs ending in gilt bronze sabots
Chiseled bronze drawer pulls
Rosewood veneer frames with a frieze effect
Materials:
Rosewood veneer on a softwood frame (the herringbone grain is characteristic)
Marquetry in contrasting precious woods: boxwood, lemonwood, and amaranth to create the floral motifs
Gray veined marble (probably Sainte-Anne or similar)
Gilt bronze (sabots, handles)

Condition: Very good overall condition. Complete marquetry with no significant losses. Original varnish with a beautiful patina. Intact marble with some natural veining and micro-scratches. Well-preserved gilt bronze mounts. All three drawers slide smoothly. Some normal wear and tear attests to its authenticity.
Use: Perfect as a bedside table or side table in a living room, entryway, or study. Its compact size and pleasing proportions allow it to fit easily into various spaces.
This chest of drawers combines functionality with decorative refinement. The quality of the marquetry and bronze mounts testifies to meticulous craftsmanship, likely from a renowned Parisian workshop.
