This is the painting 'Lo Spinario', created in 2011. The work depicts a figurative representation of a seated figure, a classic motif interpreted in a contemporary style.
The artwork is executed in oil paint on canvas and features a wooden frame in a deep, purplish-red hue. The composition is characterized by a subdued color palette with subtle contrasts, where the figure's pale skin stands out against the dark background and the ochre-yellow accents of the chair. The work is signed and dated in the lower right corner.
The painting is in good condition, commensurate with its age. The frame shows some characteristic signs of wear that contribute to the authentic appearance of the whole.
This figurative work comes into its own in a classic or eclectic interior. It offers a restrained yet striking visual element for a living room, study, or hallway.
Aone T. POSTMA (1963) is a visual artist living in The Hague, originally from Friesland. In the late 1980s, Postma studied Graphic Design at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. After a year and a half in India for various visual arts internships, he settled back in The Hague and opened his studio on Boekhorststraat. In the 1990s and the first decade of the 21st century, Postma regularly held successful exhibitions of paintings in various Dutch galleries. In recent years, he has not exhibited. Postma is also a teacher of Visual Arts and Art History in secondary education. His work is difficult to categorize; it is mostly magical realist in atmosphere with many allegorical references. Melancholy and poetry emanate from his work. Postma paints in a figurative style, yet his work is also highly expressive, particularly due to his use of color.
