In the 1920s, Lloyd Loom developed a process that industrialized wickerwork: paper is wrapped around wire, woven, and stretched over wooden frames. The result looks like rattan but is lighter, more durable, and can be shaped. The technique conquered verandas, conservatories, and cafes on both sides of the Atlantic.
This chair comes from Loom Italia, who revived the process in the 90s and brought it to Europe. The tightly woven wicker is stretched taut over the wooden frame, and the white lacquer finish is even and without flaking. The condition is exceptionally good: hardly any signs of wear, no breaks in the wicker, the legs stand cleanly.
