Product description
Lithograph by Remo Brindisi from the 1980s. 30 cm diameter, 50 cm height. A 20th-century Verist painter, he was born in Rome in 1918. His artistic studies led him to travel extensively, visiting cities such as Florence, Paris, and Venice, before moving to Milan. During the Second World War, he was called to serve and was imprisoned by the Germans, but, managing to escape, he took refuge in Venice until the Liberation. Between the 1940s and 1950s, he participated in the Venice Biennales and also the Rome Quadrennials, with inclinations towards Informal Art. In the 1970s, he also served as president of the Milan Triennale. His passion for art led him to found the Museo Alternativo (Alternative Museum) in Lido Spina, with the aim of collecting works by major contemporary artists. He received awards and accolades even outside national borders. His paintings are linked to social and political themes. During the Fascist era, his work aimed to recount the guilt and atrocities that the human soul was capable of generating. His works still speak to us of personal, inner feelings, traumatic memories that re-emerge even years later like nightmares.
