Michèle Battut, born in 1946 in Paris, is a painter, lithographer, and sculptor. She was appointed an official painter of the French Navy and elected to the French Naval Academy in 2019.
After studying art at the Lycée Fénelon and then at the École des Beaux-Arts, she won the Casa Velázquez Prize in 1971 and began a career enriched by her many travels. She is known for her timeless landscapes, poised between dream and reality, and a marked sensitivity to scenes of everyday life and light.
Battut lives and works between Paris and Nogent-le-Roi, and her internationally acclaimed work is imbued with emotion and humanism.
