Alvar Suñol Muñoz-Ramos, more commonly known as Alvar (born in 1935 in Montgat, Spain), is a versatile contemporary Spanish artist, recognized as a painter, sculptor, and lithographer.
In 1959, thanks to a grant, he moved to Paris, where he quickly achieved success. He notably signed a contract with the prestigious Galerie Drouant after all his first canvases sold within a week.
It was in Paris, in 1963, that he produced his first original lithographs.
His style is often associated with Surrealism and Spanish Modernism.
His works are part of the permanent collections of numerous museums in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
