Private sellerProduct description
This is an antique French liquor cabinet, also known as a 'cave à liqueur', dating from the 19th century. The piece combines refined craftsmanship with historical elegance, and contains a set of four decanters that, according to their provenance, date from the 18th century.
The box is crafted from dark, possibly ebonized wood and is adorned with delicate inlay work of a lighter wood type in floral motifs. The interior features a custom-made holder, upholstered with an ochre-colored fabric, which accommodates four hand-blown glass decanters and four matching liqueur glasses. The decanters are decorated with gilded details and are sealed with facet-cut glass stoppers. The exterior is completed by an ornate brass lock and hinges.
The ensemble is in good antique condition, consistent with its age. The set is complete, which enhances the authenticity and character of the object. The patina on the wood and metal, along with the slight wear on the gilding, bear witness to a rich history and careful use over the years.
This liquor cabinet is a decorative and functional object that adds a touch of classic sophistication to an interior. It is an elegant piece for a sideboard, a study, or as part of a collection of antique glassware.
The small cabinet was assembled with 6 glasses, 4 of which are visible, from 1820. The 4 decanters date from 1780 and are decorated with golden ornamentation.
