ProfessionalProduct description
Antique French Faience Plate with Chinoiserie Decoration. Attributed to Les Islettes, Late 18th-Early 19th Century
A charming French faïence plate featuring a hand-painted Chinese figure holding a yellow banner, standing on a grassy terrace beside stylised rocks and delicate purple foliage.
The scalloped rim is highlighted with fine raspberry-purple brushstrokes, framing the central scene. Blue, pink, green and ochre-yellow tones bring richness to the decoration against the ivory-White glazed ground.
The subject, known as "Chinois au drapeau", and the decorative treatment suggest an attribution to Les Islettes, eastern France, probably dating from the late 18th or early 19th century.
Some traces of time, including a long repaired fracture secured with two metal staples, some missing on border. Offered in its present condition as a decorative and collectible piece.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
