Product description
This is the Meropida coffee table, a distinctive piece of Dutch design by the manufacturer Leolux. The table is defined by its intelligent, modular construction and a striking contrast of materials and forms. Its two-part design offers both an expansive surface and discreet storage, embodying a blend of functionality and sculptural presence.
The design consists of two independent elements. The larger, outer table features a gracefully curved frame of light-toned wood veneer, supported by castors for mobility. This section cradles a smaller, mobile storage unit finished in a durable, textured black lacquer. This inner component is distinguished by its ribbed tambour door, which slides open to reveal internal shelving, providing a practical solution for organising living room essentials.
Overall, the coffee table is in a very good state of preservation, showing character consistent with careful use over time. The original finishes on both the wood and lacquered surfaces are well-maintained, and the piece remains structurally sound and fully functional. The castors on both elements operate smoothly, allowing for easy reconfiguration.
The Meropida's adaptable form makes it a versatile centerpiece for a contemporary or modern interior. It can be arranged as a compact unit or expanded to serve a larger seating area, offering a dynamic and sophisticated focal point for a living room or lounge space.
