Leendert van Lier (1910-1995 ) was a dealer in modern art and ethnographics, as well as a professional painter, printmaker and from 1950 to 1955 owner of Kunstzaal van Lier on Amsterdam's Rokin. Leendert van Lier was born in Amsterdam. He was a pupil of Dick van Luijn (1935) and an apprentice of Gerard Willem Johan van Apeldoorn and further educated himself. Leendert van Lier lived and worked in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Veere and Blaricum. He painted and watercolored portraits, landscapes and still lifes in an expressionist style. He was a member of kunstliefde in Utrecht and of the federation for b.k.. Until 1960. From 1950 to 1955 he was director of kunstzaal van Lier in Amsterdam. Then had art rooms in Utrecht, Veere and Blaricum. Watercolor on paper - framed. Signed size painting: 50 x 35 cm. The frame with glass is 50 x 42 cm. The painting is in fine condition. Provenance: private property donated by the van Lier family to the present owner.
