This is a ceramic vase or jug, designed by Charles Cart. The piece is a distinct example of Mid-Century design, characterized by its sculptural form and textured surface.
The vase is made of ceramic and finished with a thick, vibrant turquoise 'lava' glaze, resulting in a unique, organic pattern of bubbles and craters. This technique was popular in the mid-20th century and gives the object a tangible depth. With a height of 32 centimeters, the piece has a significant presence. The base color is a bright turquoise blue, accented with dark brown and black undertones that show through the glaze.
The object is in excellent vintage condition. The intentionally irregular finish and the vibrant colors of the glaze are completely intact and contribute to the unique character of the vase. The inside is finished with a dark, smooth glaze.
