About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This rug, based on Le Corbusier's "L'horreur surgit" (Horror Emerges), embodies the powerful and expressive artistic universe of one of the 20th century's greatest creators. This work reflects an intense artistic exploration, blending symbolic forms, abstraction, and polychromy, characteristic of Le Corbusier's pictorial language. Entirely handmade and hand-knotted, this rug features a natural wool and silk pile on a cotton foundation, offering remarkable suppleness, fine weave, and exceptional visual appeal. Its beautiful polychromy enhances the artistic composition, while its excellent overall condition makes it a perfect addition to a prestigious interior, gallery, or art collection. Measuring 300 x 200 cm (118 x 79 in), this rug is a major decorative piece, where modern art, architecture, and textile craftsmanship meet with elegance. Le Corbusier (1887–1965) was a visionary architect, designer, and artist, a pioneer of modernism. Alongside his architectural work, he developed a rich pictorial output, exploring form, color, and symbolism. His creations inspired numerous adaptations into rugs and tapestries, extending his artistic language into the decorative arts.
