This elegant bowl, model “Oreon,” was produced by Lausitzer Glaswerke, a distinguished German glass manufacturer established in the 19th century and renowned for its expertly crafted pressed and cut glassware. Located in the Lausitz (Lusatia) region, the company became particularly celebrated for merging traditional European glassmaking artistry with refined modern aesthetics during the early 20th century.
Formed from rich cobalt glass, the bowl exhibits a sculptural design of elongated, almond-shaped motifs that encircle the body in harmonious symmetry. The scalloped rim adds a rhythmic elegance, while the three delicately curled feet elevate the form, giving it both grace and stability. Beneath, a starburst pattern radiates from the base, reflecting light through the deep blue glass with striking brilliance.
A superb example of Central European decorative glassware, the “Oreon” bowl in cobalt glass captures the fusion of function and ornament characteristic of Lausitzer Glaswerke’s Art Deco–era creations — timelessly showcasing the interplay between color, texture, and light.
