A very beautiful transparent molded glass serving platter, entirely designed in the shape of a fish. A piece that is both decorative and functional, characteristic of 20th-century tableware which didn't hesitate to give serving dishes particularly expressive silhouettes. The fish design features a lot of relief. The body is covered with a dense scale pattern, progressively tightening towards the tail, while the fins and tail are emphasized by long, radiating ribs. The head, more streamlined and slightly satiny due to the glasswork, contrasts with the highly textured body. The eye, formed by several concentric circles in high relief, gives the piece its full character. It is precisely this interplay between smooth surfaces and multiple reliefs that makes the platter particularly luminous: depending on the lighting, the scales catch the light and give the glass an almost crystalline depth. The shape fully reflects the taste of the 1960s-1970s, a period during which European glassworks developed numerous figurative serving pieces - fish, seashells, leaves, fruits - intended for both reception tables and buffets. We tend to date it to the 1970s. With its approximately 34 cm in length, it offers a good size without being cumbersome. It can naturally hold fish, seafood, appetizers, or cold preparations, but its design also allows it to be used as a presentation platter or decorative piece in a kitchen, a dining room, or a seaside home. A beautiful vintage object, generous, luminous, and immediately recognizable, which possesses that slightly theatrical charm of the elegant tables of the 1970s.
