Product description
Impressive large sculptural ceramic lamp base in the Fat Lava style, probably West German, circa 1970.
This remarkable piece features four sculptural loop handles, a glossy chocolate-brown glaze with contrasting speckled ivory decoration, and numerous circular perforations.
Originally designed for double lighting: one bulb beneath a lampshade and a second inside the ceramic body, allowing warm light to shine through the perforations. The interior is painted yellow to enhance the lighting effect.
Its striking organic design is reminiscent of the work of Walter Gerhards, although the piece is unmarked and the attribution remains unconfirmed.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, remarkably well preserved, almost like new.
Dimensions: H 53 cm × maximum diameter 34 cm.
Weight: 5.2 kg.
Period: Circa 1970s.
Origin: Probably West Germany.
Material: Glazed ceramic.
Sold as a ceramic lamp base only, without electrical fittings or lampshade. Professional rewiring required.
The staged photograph showing the complete illuminated lamp is a digital illustration. The lampshade and electrical components are not included.
