ProfessionalProduct description
Large primitive-style wooden bowl (c. 1900)
Approximate age: 120 years
Material: Pine wood
Our large wooden bowl is a one-of-a-kind piece that stands out for:
Its story told through every cut and imperfection.
Its understated design and simple lines, intended for everyday use, make it an antique object that, from the past, gives meaning to our present.
It can be used as a decorative bowl on a coffee table, as a decorative magazine rack for books, or even as a plant pot.
The state of conservation is optimal, except for the characteristic imperfections of any antique produced by the passage of time.
– HISTORICAL NOTE –
Wooden kneading bowls have been used throughout Europe since the Middle Ages. Flour was, and continues to be, a staple food on the European continent. In many cases, once flour was obtained from wheat, it was kneaded immediately rather than stored. This was due to fears of insect infestations that could spoil the flour.
We also recommend our antique trunks as the perfect complement to this antique bowl.
