Beautiful and rare pair of large temple lion statues, better known as foo dogs or guardian dogs. These fine Chinese statues date from approximately the mid-20th century and are expertly crafted from blue glazed porcelain; they are numbered 201 on the bottom.
These beautiful statues of seated, static foo dogs have a high collector's value and come in various sizes, shapes, and colors. They always appear as a pair and are mirror images of one another. One foo dog has its paw on a ball, while the other holds a small foo dog cub in check.
Both statues are in very good condition, with only minimal signs of age and use, such as a tiny chip (1mm) missing from the glaze on a corner of the rear base of one statue; it is barely noticeable. Check the photos for more details!
