Product description
A beautiful and monumental piece of German studio ceramics from the 60s / early 70s. This generous, hand-thrown spherical vase comes from the well-known manufacturer Buchtal (Keramische Werke Buchtal).
The underside is fully manually signed in the wet clay with "Handarbeit Buchtal". This indicates an exclusive studio piece or a limited craft series within the factory.
The vase has a fantastic, sober 'Wabi-Sabi' and brutalist aesthetic. All around, the stoneware features robust, tactile turning rings in the clay, finished with a light slip glaze and an expressive, organic brush motif in iron oxide around the shoulder and neck.
Unique large size:
Where most vases from these series are on the small side, this is a very impressive and heavy example. A real eye-catcher.
