Antique Burmese Kinnara – Mythological Dancer – 112 cm This monumental sculpture depicts a Kinnara, a celestial being from Burmese mythology that is half human and half bird. The Kinnara symbolizes universal love, loyalty, and the beauty of the arts. This sculpture is a beautiful example of Burmese wood carving from the early 20th century. Refined Decoration and Craftsmanship The sculpture is hand-carved from solid tropical hardwood. The costume is richly decorated using the traditional 'hman-zi shwe-cha' technique: a combination of refined gilding and inlaid glass pieces that beautifully catch the light. The elegant posture and serene facial expression give the sculpture a timeless, spiritual appeal.
