Striking large hand-blown art glass fish made in Czechoslovakia, dating from the 1960s–1970s. The sculpture features an exceptionally elongated, elegant form with rich brown, powder pink and white glass feathered decoration running through the body. Clear glass has been applied to form the sculptural fins and tail, complemented by distinctive blue and white applied eyes. The fish was individually formed and finished by hand, giving the piece its expressive character and subtle irregularities. The quality and technique are characteristic of the strong tradition of artistic glassmaking in Czechoslovakia during the second half of the 20th century. The exact designer and glassworks have not been documented, and we therefore prefer to present the piece without a speculative attribution. A highly decorative and unusual example of vintage Czechoslovak studio glass, particularly impressive due to its elongated proportions and graphic internal decoration. Excellent original vintage condition without signs of age and use.
